Swiss apprenticeships are valued not only by employers but also by international experts.
Studies estimate that a Swiss Federal Diploma of Vocational Education and Training (EFZ) is equivalent to 100–120 ECTS credits — about two-thirds of a bachelor’s degree. This reflects the intensity of both classroom learning and practical training.
But the value goes beyond numbers. Apprentices enter the workforce earlier, often with strong salaries and real-world experience that university graduates still lack. On the global stage, Swiss apprentices consistently shine: at the WorldSkills competitions, where most countries send university students, Switzerland sends apprentices — and they regularly win gold medals in IT and business.
This shows that Swiss VET graduates are not only ready for the local job market, but also competitive at the highest international level.
