Platform Developer

Platform Developers plan, build, operate, and secure IT infrastructure and networks. They manage physical and virtual server systems, ensure the availability and security of critical services, and protect data across the entire ICT environment.

At SIVT, this training follows the official Swiss Federal curriculum of Swiss Federal ICT curriculum, combining structured self-paced learning with real project work at partner companies.

Students plan and configure a basic IT and network infrastructure for a small business environment. They install hardware, configure network components, and ensure connectivity and basic security.
M 187	Commission an ICT Workstation with an Operating System	System Management	Year 1
Students install and configure operating systems on workstations. They set up user accounts, manage permissions, install software, and ensure the system meets defined requirements.
M 122	Automate Workflows Using a Scripting Language	Service Management	Year 1
Students write scripts to automate repetitive administrative tasks. They use scripting languages such as PowerShell or Bash to manage files, processes, and system configurations efficiently.
M 123	Commission Server Services	System Management	Year 2
Students install and configure server services such as DNS, DHCP, file sharing, and web servers. They ensure services are operational, secure, and accessible to authorised users.
M 129	Commission LAN Components	Network Management	Year 2
Students configure and commission LAN components including switches and routers. They implement VLANs, configure routing protocols, and document the network infrastructure.
M 141	Commission a Database System	System Management	Year 2
Students install, configure, and administer a relational database system. They create databases, manage access rights, perform backups, and optimise performance.
M 143	Implement Backup and Restore Systems	Security / Risk Management	Year 3
Students design and implement backup and restore strategies for IT systems. They evaluate risks, select appropriate backup solutions, test recovery procedures, and document the process.
M 157	Plan and Carry Out IT System Implementations	System Management	Year 3
Students plan and execute the implementation of IT systems in a business context. They analyse requirements, create an implementation plan, carry out the installation, and hand over the system with documentation.
M 158	Plan and Carry Out Software Migrations	System Management	Year 3
Students plan and execute software migrations, including version upgrades and platform transitions. They assess compatibility, prepare rollback plans, and ensure business continuity during the migration process.
M 346	Design and Implement Cloud Solutions	Business Engineering	Year 4
Students design and implement cloud-based solutions using major cloud platforms. They evaluate cloud service models (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS), configure cloud resources, and apply security and cost management best practices.

Monthly Tuition CHF 500 per month

Final Examination Fee CHF 3,000 (one-time). Upon passing, CHF 1,500 is reimbursed.

Programme Start September 2026 / February 2027. Online enrolment is generally possible at any time.

Minimum Age 16 years (completed secondary education required). For applicants under 18, a parent or legal guardian must co-sign the training agreement.

Frequently Asked Questions

Besides the Federal Diploma, you can prepare for industry certifications like CCNA, CompTIA Security+, and Azure Fundamentals through the Advanced Modules.

The focus is on logic and systems, not advanced calculus. Basic math skills are sufficient.
